If you are not feeling the Christmas spirit this year, just know you are not the only one!
This year has been tough for everybody and more than a few people are bound to feel sad and not very christmassy this December.
But even if you are away from your family or a bit down, there is nothing like a good Christmas movie and some mulled wine to make yourself feel a bit better!
Here are our top Christmas picks!
1. The Holiday (2006)
"I suppose I think about love more than anyone really should. I am constantly amazed by its sheer power to alter and define our lives."
This Hollywood feel good rom-com is just what you might need right now!
Set in both cold London and sunny L.A., the movie focuses on the lives of two young women, Amanda (Cameron Diaz) and Iris (Kate Winslet), who decide to swap houses for the holiday season. Both tired of their own lives and in need of an escape, they will find love and happiness in their new environment.
If you have never seen The Holiday before, you will definitely fall in love with the amazing set and with the romances. In our opinion, The Holiday is a 10/10!
2. Elf (2003)
“So, good news…I saw a dog today.”
Elf is one of the most famous Christmas comedies and Will Ferrel is simply hilarious as the main character!
The movie focuses on a man, who has been raised as an elf at the North Pole, as well as his journey in New York City after he discovers he is in fact human.
The movie offers more than a few funny moments and you will find yourself laughing until the very end.
Elf is surely a classic and great to watch with all your family on Christmas Day! Possibly while drinking some tasty hot chocolate!
3. Home Alone (1990)
"I made my family disappear."
Home Alone is the classic 90s movie that will give you nostalgic feels.
The family comedy follows the adventures of eight-year-old Kevin (Macaulay Culkin), who is left home alone for Christmas when his family forgets him and travels to Paris without him.
The movie is hilarious and it was surely one of our favourites growing up. And it still is!
This is the perfect movie to watch on Christmas Eve to remind you of the good time you had watching it as a kid with your family. So grab all the junk food you can find around the house and immerse yourself in a classic Christmas movie like no other!
And if you are obsessed with Home Alone as much as us, then why not make it a super binge by watching the sequel too. Home Alone 2: Lost in New York (1992) is even more hilarious!
4. Love Actually (2003)
"But for now, let me say, without hope or agenda, just because it's Christmas—(and at Christmas you tell the truth). To me, you are perfect."
Love Actually is probably one of the most rewatched Christmas movies of all time and rightly so!
From the romance to the star-filled cast, this rom-com has it all!
It follows the life of 8 different British couples, in the weeks leading up to Christmas.
While every scene in the movie is perfect, who doesn't simply love Mark (Andrew Lincoln) showing up to Juliet's door (Keira Knightley) to confess his love for her?
I don’t think there is anybody left who hasn’t seen this classic Christmas movie before, but if you are one of them we suggest you get all the chocolate you can and enjoy plenty of drama and an amazingly Christmas decorated London!
5. How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000)
"Maybe Christmas (he thought) doesn’t come from a store. Maybe Christmas perhaps means a little bit more.”
Last but not least, How the Grinch Stole Christmas is another 2000 classic we all loved growing up.
The Grinch, played by the always amazing Jim Carrey, is a grumpy creature who hates Christmas and lives in solitude. Living just outside the village of Whoville, the Grinch decides to ruin the holidays for the always festive citizens. What he didn’t account for was Cindy Lou (Taylor Momsen), a child that’s ready to change his mind about Christmas!
Probably one of our all time favourite Christmas movies, How the Grinch Stole Christmas is an evergreen family movie, filled with music and hilarious moments. And if you feel like the Grinch this year, you’ll appreciate it even more!
While 2020 is finally coming to an end, we want to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
With the hope that 2021 will be a safer and happier year for everybody! Stay strong!
