While a lot of TV series tend to focus their attention and main plot on love stories and the typical “when a boy meets a girl” scenario, fortunately some others stand out from the crowd showing amazing friendships instead.
Here are our favourite best friends form the most beloved TV shows!
5. Rachel, Phoebe and Monica - Friends
"You're the greatest friend I ever had."
While Friends is, as the title suggests, a sitcom that focuses entirely on the life of the beloved six friends in New York City, three of them are the ones that we love the most.
Rachel (Jennifer Aniston), Phoebe (Lisa Kudrow) and Monica (Courteney Cox) are the funniest and most relatable best friends on TV.
They go through what any of us goes through in their twenties and early thirties and they are always there to make each other laugh through bad days.
Their complete support for each other is amazing and the way they are each others’ family is something magical that we all love about the show.
4. Lorelai and Rory- Gilmore Girls
"To my mom, who is just everything to me and everything I am and who I am gonna miss so much.”
We know that Lorelai (Lauren Graham) and Rory (Alexis Bledel) are technically mother and daughter, but it is also true that their intimate friendship is what makes Gilmore Girls really great!
Rory’s bond with Lorelai is an amazing example of a bond that everybody would love to have with their own mothers!
The two women share similar taste in almost everything, from music and movies to even their similar taste in men!
Lorelai and Rory are always together and supporting each other through thick and thin. Whatever life throws at them, they know they will be ok because they have each other.
And we would lie if we said we didn’t dream at least once to spend an evening with them eating junk food and watching a great movie!
3. Meredith and Cristina - Grey’s Anatomy
"You're my sister. You're my family. You're all I've got."
Meredith and Cristina are more than best friends, they are sisters.
The two women meet when starting their medical career as interns in Seattle, Washington.
What is beautiful about their friendship is that even though they are both complicated people with complicated lives, they trust each other fully and they support each other through everything.
While they have other friends at the hospital, Meredith and Cristina’s friendship is special. From their inside jokes to the way they always manage to read each other’s minds, their bond is inspiring.
And the fact that they were the first friends to say they were each other’s “person” before it was a trend makes them the best!
2. Jane, Sutton and Kat- The Bold Type
Nurse: "Okay, it looks like we have all your information. Oh, except your emergency contact"
Jane: "Could I have two?"
If there is one TV series that is centred around a strong female friendship that is the The Bold Type.
Jane (Katie Stevens) , Sutton (Meghann Fahy) and Kat (Aisha Dee) are our three favourite millennials on TV and their friendship is one to look up at.
They started hanging out because they worked together, but their relationship got deeper with time, to the point of becoming each others’ soul mates.
The way Sutton and Kat are there for Jane as she deals with her BRCA gene and the challenging obstacles she faces because of it is simply inspirational.
The three girls are always supporting each other, both at work and in their private life, rooting for each other’s success and happiness.
If sometimes it’s true that friendship can be selfish, that is completely false for the girls of The Bold Type. It is, in our opinion, one of the healthiest and most supportive friendships on the small screen!
1. Leslie and Ann- Parks and Recreation
"But right now you are the most beautiful, glowing, sun goddess ever.”
When it comes to being besties, nobody does it better than Leslie and Ann! Played by the talented Amy Poehler and Rashida Jones, the two women work for the parks and recreation department of Pawnee, Indiana and they are simply perfect for each other!
While Parks and Recreation depicts quite a lot of love affairs over the course of its 7 seasons, Leslie and Ann beats all of them with their friendship.
The love they have for each other, the fun they have together at all time and the complete understanding of each other’s feelings makes them a fan favourite friendship goals!
And can we talk about how Leslie simply adores Ann and compliments her at all time? They absolutely win the best friends award for us!
