5 Movies to Look Forward to in the Upcoming Year

By: Ava Rogha

Although we were robbed the chance of viewing some of the most anticipated movies of this year due to the global pandemic, we can now officially look forward to next year’s goodies! We have therefore chosen some of our favorite upcoming movies and shared them below.

Make sure to write down the ones you like the most and hit the movies when they are released!

1. Halloween Kills

Halloween Kills is yet another movie released in the Halloween American Horror franchise, that already consists of eleven chapters!

The movie franchise focuses on serial killer Michael Myers, who was committed to a mental institution as a child for murdering his own sister. However, when the masked individual finally escapes, he starts actively murdering people on the Holiday of Halloween.

The first movie was released in 1978, and since then we have been lucky enough to hit the movie theatres once every couple of years to enjoy a new version of this thrilling movie! The most recent version Halloween Kills will be released on October 15th, 2021 and I cannot wait to properly get into the Halloween spirit once again!

2. Escape Room 2

Escape Room 2 is the long-awaited sequel to Escape Room (2019).

If you’ve already seen the first movie, you may already know that this movie is all about a twisted game that we have learnt to call “Escape Room”. In this case, six survivors of fatal accidents were chosen to play this game, which put their lives at risk yet again!

The plot of the sequel is still quite unclear, but you should definitely watch the first movie before the official release of the second one on January 1st, 2021! Read more about Escape Room here!

3. Cinderella

Yes, you read it right! There will be another live-action Cinderella movie, which couldn't be more anticipated. Camila Cabello is casted as Cinderella and according to the singer, this is a role that she can relate to, but is somewhat out of her comfort zone.

We are all familiar with the plot of this famous Disney tale and we can’t wait to see Cinderella find her Prince Charming and live happily ever after once more! Stay tuned for Cinderella, which will be officially released on February 5th, 2021.

4. The Conjuring 3: The Devil Made Me Do It

The Conjuring 3 is the third movie in The Conjuring American Horror franchise and it will serve as a sequel to the previously released The Conjuring movies. Starring the incredibly well-known and talented actress Vera Farmiga, The Conjuring will make your blood run cold throughout the entire movie!

The first movie is set in the 1970s and tells the story of a family who moves to an old farmhouse in Rhode Island. They find a locked hidden basement in the house, and soon enough they start hearing creepy noises around the house, which they believe to be ghosts. Paranormal activity is confirmed when two paranormal investigators visit the house! We do not want to spoil the entire movie for you, but you can read more about it here, and once you get started on the first one, you will end up watching all the way until the third one, which will be released on June 4th, 2021!

5. Cruella

Cruella is a live-action crime/comedy film based on the Disney villain Cruella de Vil, that you may already know from One Hundred and One Dalmatians (1961).

This movie will have a star cast including Emma Stone as Cruella de Vil and Emma Thompson as the Baroness, and we cannot wait to see these actresses thrive in a Disney original movie!

If you’ve already seen One Hundred and One Dalmatians, then you should definitely put Cruella on your list for the sake of nostalgia! This remake will hit the theatres on May 28th, 2021 and we cannot wait to see yet another Disney animated movie come to life!
