Do you love teen dramas filled with mystery and action? Then Outer Banks (2020- Present) is the perfect tv series for you to watch this summer!

Outer Banks came out on the 15th of April and it has already become a Netflix hit series, and one of the most watched during lockdown in the U.S.

The series follows the lives of teenager John B. (Chase Stokes) and his three best friends: Kiara (Madison Bailey), Pope (Jonathan Daviss) and JJ (Rudy Pankow).

The four inseparable friends live in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, a string of islands and a well-known holiday destination in the U.S.

The islands of the Outer Banks seem like idyllic holiday spots, but they run on a very clear and divisive class system. The group of very wealthy and entitled families is known as the “Kooks”, and the working class and less fortunate are the “Pogues”.

The two groups are very different and all the teenagers tend to hang out only with kids from their own “kind”.

John B. and his friends are all Pogues, except for Kiara, who is a Kook but hangs out with them because she is an activist and strongly against what the Kooks stand for.

"The Outer Banks, paradise on Earth. It’s the sort of place where you either have two jobs or two houses. Two tribes, one island.”

When the series starts, the group is ready to have a great summer, full of parties and fun around the island. John B. wants to enjoy it at its fullest, but since his father‘s disappearance at sea 9 months earlier, he can’t accept that he is gone forever. And the mystery surrounding his dad only thickens when the friends find a sunken ship, after a hurricane hits the Outer Banks.

The same ship, along with a dead man’s body, is later found and investigated by the police. That is when the friends decide to look into it, as the man is connected to John B.’s dad and his disappearance.

As they go deeper into the mystery and in a race against time and the police, the friends discover John B’s dad had found the location of the Merchant, a legendary sunken ship that contains 400 million dollars as a treasure.

To honour his dad’s legacy and to have a better life, John B. and his friends begin a treasure hunt to find the ship and the money.

“Wait, you guys, we’re gonna be rich! Full kook, full kook, full kook!”

Outer Banks is one of the most entertaining TV series I have watched in a while and the mystery is what makes it a great watch! Every episode will give you more hints for the treasure hunt and you will find yourself wondering and theorizing where the 400 million dollars is, alongside the main characters!

The setting in the paradisiac Outer Banks is breath-taking and it makes the series even more fascinating and peculiar. You will feel like you are on holiday just by watching this series!

And if that is not enough already, the romance between John B. and Sarah Cameron (Madelyn Cline), who is part of the rival kooks, will make your heart melt and root for their young love.

“When people get close to me, I feel trapped and then I bail. And I blame them for it.”

Outer Banks will get you sucked in a world of mystery and shocking twists and turns, where nothing is certain and the treasure will slip through the friends’ fingers more than once!

You will find yourself clicking on the next episode over and over again, wondering whether John B. and his friends will succeed in finding the money and escape from all the people on the island that want the treasure for themselves!

Outer Banks is waiting for you, with 10 episodes of drama, mystery and a paradisiac setting you will want to visit as soon as you can!

“Our mission this summer is to have a good time, all the time.”
